They had returned to die with the company, but the killing had already begun....

So begins Mark Bowlin's debut novel--the story of Sam Taft and Perkin Berger, two cousins from South Texas.  Sam, a rancher, wants nothing more than to survive and get home to his wife.  Perkin, a student of history, finds the war a lark, a grand adventure--until the harrowing realities of WWII begin to set in....

The Texas Gun Club is the first novel in a hard-hitting adventure series in the tradition of C.S. Forester's Hornblower or Patrick O'Brian's Aubrey-Maturin novels.

It is a history-lover's easy escape into fiction -- an accurate portrayal of the saga of the famed 36th Division in WWII as seen from the eyes of Sam and Perkin.

The Texas Gun Club series, chronicling this wartime journey of cousins Perkin Berger and Sam Taft from Texas to Germany, begins at the Battle of Salerno.  Victory Road, the second book in the series will follow Sam and Perkin through the mountains of Italy to the fateful village of San Pietro.

The Texas Gun Club is published by the P3 Press of Dallas. Artwork by Keith Rocco for the National Guard Heritage Series.
